john's vocal coach hedreich nichols

the band prakesh was founded in the year 2001 by john prakesh. he had a clear vision in which direction it had to go… but let’s go back a few years…..

rockmusic was always the focus in his life. when john was a little boy, he listened to bands like van halen, bon jovi, mr. big, extreme, etc. he got his first guitar (gibson les paul standard) for his 13th birthday.

that was a very important moment for him and his musical career. he discovered a new side of himself. he was getting more and more ambitious. john explored every avenue to play with other musicians. yeah truly he was addicted to music. so he took some guitar lessons by a local guitar player jim boppart. three months later john joined a metalband named lordren. they spent a lot of time with rehearsing and trying to put a foot into the ailing music-buiz. well they decided to go to a band-casting. about 300 bands participated. but only 20 of them had the chance to proof their crafts and perform in front of the audience. john was very nervous. ‘cause it was his first concert as a singer. as he and his bandmates hit the stage and began to play, the audience couldn’t stay on their chairs anymore. they started to bang their heads and kept dancing, shaking…

that night lordren won. they were very proud of it. it was one of the reasons why john is making music. that happening would change his life, thought john. the following concerts weren’t as cool as the first one. lordren was getting tired…

discussions won upper hand at sessions. they didn’t speak the same language anymore. john decided to leave the band. ’cause he was still craving for more not less…

a new band was born in the year 2001 called Prakesh. in the beginning it was quite a hassle to get the right bandmates. ’cause john’s vision was clearer than ever. prakesh played many great midsized gigs. the press was very intrigued by the newcomer.

2003 prakesh took a big step after two years and toured through the south of India. exploring john’s roots as well. the aptly named rockathon-tour and visited five major cities (mysore, bangalore, goa, cochin, chenai) that was absolutely awesome… the initial shy attitude of the indian audience was transformed very quickly into enthusiasm. prakesh was very impressed. during the days they had to travel by bus. sometimes 20h a day. but they were able to see how people lived there. it was impressive and also sad at the same time. that was quite a downer for the whole prakesh crew. the band needed a break after those strenuous experiences. but john was still eager. he wanted more…

claude nobs montreux

so he committed a charityproject called SHAGGY&KIDS FOR KIDS

in 2004 went john to england for three months. he wanted to get to know the london music scene. he was looking for new inspirations for the new album startklar. when john came back he seemed more grown-up. obviously he had found what he was looking for. rehearsals started again. it was like a present for john. the new album startklar was a hit. several radio and tv stations were asking for it.

2005 one of the highlights was in misano/italy at the mini united friends challenge festival. but the absolute the height of the year 2005 took place in montreux. the freddie mercury live music award. out of more than 170 bands from all over europe, prakesh won two of the highly desired awards. best live band chosen by the international jury and the best voted from the audience.

2006 was a time when prakesh played unplugged. prakesh convinced as an unpluggedband as well (with acoustic guitars, cajon, vocals and double bass which was the twist on it).

2007 meanwhile prakesh has released their 2nd album diary. which is quite harder and more powerful than ever. their new single message was a big bang in norway.

2008 prakesh is currently preparing for a big concert at the classic open in leipzig/germany the 15. of august

they’re going to perform on mdr (tv-station) as well… so one thing’s clear this is going to be very cool…
